Ballast Water Treatment System Installation Report

Client: Held Shipping

Location: Brisbane, QLD

Summary: As a qualified Alfa Laval Ballast Water Treatment System installation, WATMAR was commissioned to inspect, scan and provide recommendations for the installation of a BWTS on the vessel “BBC Nagasaki”. WATMAR co-ordinated 3D scanning of the engine room and control room spaces, providing comprehensive 3D cloud data, positional 3D photos and high-quality digital images to the customer. WATMAR’s highly qualified project managers then determined the best options for the installation of the initially proposed Alfa Laval Pureballast 3.1 system. This system incorporates the latest in UV water treatment and provides the most compact and flexible arrangement on modern vessels. Despite this, it was determined that a deckhouse mounted solution should be considered due to the tight space in the engine. The survey was undertaken with high flexibility to the ship’s schedules and was completed in a single shift upon arrival in port. The fact that the intended equipment and location for installation were reliably able to be deemed to be unsuitable, provided the customer with invaluable information prior to purchasing the system.

Achievements:

  • High-quality scan data, 3D photos and digital photos,
  • A high degree of schedule flexibility,
  • Invaluable advice prior to purchase of the system,
  • Incident & injury free
